AAP Leadership

The Team Leading The Way

Our exceptional leadership team, led by CEO Jen Panteluk and a strong board of seven seasoned physiotherapists, carries diverse experience and knowledge.

With Panteluk’s expertise in strategic planning, board governance, relationship-building, and senior leadership, combined with the cumulative decades of clinical and academic practice by the board, we are a remarkable force. This broad range of experiences, from rural to urban practice, from pediatric to geriatric care, and from academic to clinical settings, provides a broad perspective to address the needs and challenges faced by Alberta’s physiotherapy community.

Every leader is pivotal in shaping our association.

With this solid leadership foundation, AAP is in an excellent position to drive our profession forward, promoting physiotherapy’s vital role in Alberta’s healthcare landscape. As we move forward, AAP leadership is committed to empowering its members, advocating for our profession, and shaping a healthier Alberta.

The Inside Track: Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About the AAP

As a member, you’ll receive many benefits, including advocacy for the profession, access to professional development resources, networking opportunities, and the chance to be a part of a vibrant community of physiotherapists in Alberta. You’ll also be listed in our “Find a Physio” tool, helping potential patients connect with you.

The membership cost varies depending on your employment status and other factors. The fee is an annual fee effective from October 1 to September 30. If you join outside of that window, your fee payment will be automatically pro-rated.

We provide various educational opportunities, from workshops and seminars to online courses and resources. These are designed to help our members continue their professional development and stay current in physiotherapy.

There are many ways to get involved! You can join our committees, participate in events, contribute to our professional development resources, or even run for a position on our board. Contact us for more information.

The “Find a Physio” tool  allows potential patients to find physiotherapists based on location, specialty, and other factors. As a member, your practice will be listed in this tool, increasing your visibility to potential patients.

We raise physiotherapy’s profile in Alberta through public awareness campaigns, government lobbying, and collaborations with other healthcare organizations. We aim to highlight the value of physiotherapy to overall wellness and health care.

While full membership is limited to licensed physiotherapists, we do offer associate membership for students, retired physiotherapists, and others associated with the profession. Please contact us for more details.

We understand that your time is precious. The AAP is designed to integrate into your schedule seamlessly. You can decide how much you want to engage – accessing resources at your own pace, attending virtual events that fit your timing, or joining our conversations when you have a few spare moments. Being part of the AAP isn’t about adding responsibilities but about providing support and resources to help you thrive in your career.

Whether you’re in a bustling city or rural setting, public or private practice, our resources and community are tailored to meet your needs. We advocate for improvements impacting all physiotherapists across Alberta and aim to elevate the profession. Plus, our platform offers invaluable opportunities for networking, learning, and sharing best practices that can contribute to your professional growth, regardless of where you practice.

The Alberta Association of Physiotherapy established a strategic partnership with the Canadian Physiotherapy Association in May 2022 that provides access to Professional Liability Insurance, practice resources, professional development at reduced costs and other benefits.

The combined CPA and AAP fee allows physiotherapists in Alberta access to the discounts that CPA has established, but also provides the AAP to continue to advocate for the profession within the province of Alberta.

To join the Alberta Association of Physiotherapy, you must already have an account with the Canadian Physiotherapy Association. To join, visit the CPA website and log in to your account. Follow the prompts to complete your AAP membership. If you need any assistance, feel free to contact us.

You can renew your membership online through your member account with the Canadian Physiotherapy Association. If you are having trouble or need assistance, please get in touch with us directly.
